Pictures from our 2025 Finding Your Voice conference!
Thank you to all those that joined us for our 6th annual Finding Your Voice event on February 8, 2025!

Finding Your Voice is our annual event that features a showcase for treble choirs and an opportunity to learn from Detroit artists. We believe in fostering empowerment through creative expression. All who attend take part in workshops led by local artists from Detroit and across Michigan. All participants also make music together through communal singing – learning a set of songs throughout the day to be (informally) performed at the end!
Guest Artists
We have had some incredible guest artists over the years join us to help us “find our voice” in myriad ways. This includes:
- Nandi Comer – 2023 poet laureate of Michigan
- Dr. Jennifer Cresswell – teacher, public speaker, soprano
- Jeri Lynne Johnson – orchestra conductor, innovative strategist
- Satori Shakoor – storyteller and artist
- Shara Nova – singer/songwriter, My Brightest Diamond, Illinoise
- Michelle Smart – founder, Bags to Butterflies

Previous Participating Choirs
Choirs that have joined us for the event will engage in all the activities of the day. They will also perform 2-3 songs and participate in a solo or full ensemble masterclass.
- EMU Voices – Eastern Michigan University
- Jamileh – Fordson High School
- Women’s Chorale – Wayne State University
- Howell Women’s Chorale – Howell High School

Individuals can participate in the following ways:
